And it was love at first sight! JuJu is the complete dog [and cat] person, and Maggie picked up on it immediately. Kisses all the way around.
And finally meeting THE WOMAN – well, what can I say? Sharp, gorgeous, funny, kind, smart. We had a great day. A long walk at Sandy Hook [apologies for not getting down to Asbury Park – we didn’t have enough time!]. That was quite enough exercise.
Maggie ran around, found some children to pet her, and checked out the fishermen. There were also seagulls to be chased and waves to romp in. Is it any wonder that we were able to leave her napping in the car while we had a late lunch?
Fish. Great fish. Then the dessert menu. We hemmed and hawed, admired and thought. And handed the menus back to the waitress and asked for the check.
No – really. no dessert!
Meeting JuJu was like seeing an old friend. An immediate connection, and lots of talk about our parents, our lives, and the weight issue of course. JuJu [and Jack]] said a few things that knocked my socks off – especially that they know people who love what I write! That’s such an honor. My writing career has focused on ‘the facts,’ and it’s been pretty much as either a ghost writer or a corporate writer. So, having my name on something is enough of a thrill for me. But having real readers considering it to be worth their time and thought – well, trust me – that’s big. HUGE, in fact.
So, thank you one and all.
We needed more time together. We spent so much time talking and catching up that we didn’t get to the planning phase. But that’ll come. There’s email and cell phones. It’ll happen.
A wonderful day. And a tired dog.
JuJu – thank you!
